Acknowledging Davyd Whaley’s shift to working artist
following another career, the Davyd Whaley Foundation
offers an Emerging Artist Grant without age requirements.
One grant of $5,000 to be awarded to a working artist in the Los Angeles area who are underrecognized and can provide evidence of a promising career that can be significantly supported by this financial assistance. Award also includes an exhibition opportunity with previous Davyd Whaley Foundation awardees. Applicants not awarded the grant are also eligible for consideration for a one week residency at The Desert House in Joshua Tree. Please see details and criteria regarding the residency below.
Applicants should be able to show a beginning history of work of significant quality
and evidence of a serious commitment to their artistic practice. Formal education in
terms of BFA or MFA degrees will be taken into consideration, but not required.
Applicants based in the greater Los Angeles area, which includes the following five
counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura.
